Kansas women have been making history for generations.
1867 | Kansas became the first state in the nation to put women's suffrage to a vote.
The 1867 campaign marked an important beginning. Women across Kansas organized, advocated, and made their case for having a voice.
1887 | 20 years later, Kansas women won the right to vote in municipal, school, and bond elections.
That same year, in the small Kansas town of Argonia, Susanna M. Salter was elected the first woman mayor in the nation.
1912 | Kansas women finally won full voting rights.
That victory came 80 years before the 19th Amendment that gave women across the country a constitutional right to vote.
2022 | Kansas became the first state to hold a public vote on abortion after Dobbs overturned Roe v. Wade.
Kansas voters protected women's right to make their own healthcare decisions, rejecting the amendment 59% to 41%.
Every generation of Kansas women has fought for our right to vote. We've never been afraid to stand up, speak out, and demand a voice, and we're not about to start now.
Now politicians are overstepping into our lives again, trying to take control of choices that belong to us. We know what's best for ourselves and our families. These decisions should be ours to make, not dictated by elected officials who think they know better.
This November, we carry that legacy forward. The women who came before us fought for our voice, and now it's our turn to use it. Make your plan and show up at the polls.
What’s at stake?
OUR RIGHTS.
Protecting our healthcare and our reproductive rights across Kansas.
Twice in four years, politicians have tried to take away our freedom to make our own medical decisions. Twice, Kansas voters said no: 59% in 2022, and 62% in August 2026.
OUR FAMILIES.
Protecting our access to childcare and the resources Kansas families rely on.
Infant care in Kansas costs an average of $15,156 a year. Decisions about childcare hit our families directly, and we deserve a say.
OUR COMMUNITIES.
Protecting our local schools and the neighborhoods where we live.
Kansas has 297 school districts, and funding decisions shape every classroom and community across our state.
These decisions are all on the ballot.
It's time to defend our rights and our freedoms. Make your plan. Vote.
